THEORY OF TCPD
(Taekwondo Children’s Personality Development)

Ha’s Taekwondo’s Educational Method.

As a professor specializing in Taekwondo I have been researching a program called TCPD (Taekwondo Children’s Personality Development) for the last 12 years.
Also, we have great feedback from the parents encouraging us to spread the knowledge of the program and work with more children.
This Program has been developed for children between the ages of 3 to 12 years of age.

 ▲ TCPD’s Training Goal
The TCPD program shapes children’s personalities through physical and mental training.
In this program, we use Taekwondo to train these children so that they may grow up to be upstanding citizens and future leaders of our society.
However, some students with physical or mental handicaps cannot achieve this goal without additional support in facing life’s daily obstacles.
We have a special needs program for these students called TCS (Taekwondo Clinical Support).
This program gives additional support to these students through intense physical and mental training.
With a consistent training regimen, our goal is to have our special needs students have the confidence and ability to train alongside regularly enrolled TCPD students.

▲ TCPD’s Training Classification.
TCPD is classified into three different categories.

Category One, Personality Development Training:
We use Taekwondo to help the child control many personality issues.
We find the source of any behavior problems, what triggers them and identify steps to prevent them from happening again.

Category Two, Physical Exercise Development Training:
We will examine the gross motor and fine motor skills of the child.
We will further examine the child’s coordination and balance. Then, we will create a program that will help the child meet his/her needs.

Category Three, Taekwondo Clinical Support Training:
We use the TCS program to address the issues a special needs child may face and help him/her progress to the TCPD program.

 ▲ TCPD Program’s Important Point
1. For Tiny Lions, (ages 3~6), we direct our training on focus, coordination and righteousness.
2. For Kid Lions, (ages 7~12), we focus on self-discipline, self-esteem, self-defense, respect, concentration and positive attitude.

***TCPD program is designed to develop motor skills and also plays a big role
in improving the person’s IQ, EQ and sociability and creativity as well. ***

Recommendation Letter from Superintendent of
School District #122, Julie M. Morris

The martial art of Taekwondo began in 1944, became an Olympic sport in 1988, and has transformed into a martial art loved by 200 different countries around the world.

Grandmaster Tae Eun Ha has taken this universal love of Taekwondo and developed it into new programs for adults and children which have been appraised by many in both Korea and the U.S. He successfully published his studies of children’s personalities and Taekwondo into a book in 1998. In 2000, he initiated his theoretical studies in practice by teaching American children, which became a success.

“Children’s Personality Development” program improves children’s physical and mental abilities very effectively using many educational aspects of Taekwondo, namely discipline, concentration, respect, and confidence. This was the first psychological personality development therapy based on martial arts.

This sensational program saw great results from children and was loved by many parents for its effectiveness. Harlem School District #122 specially appointed this program as Harlem School District’s Special Educational Program. The program was launched in March of 2010 targeted for elementary students.

My personal wish is for this breakthrough program to spread throughout the country and become a positive impact on children’s future.

Sincerely,

Julie M. Morris, Ed.D.
