Dear Taekwondo Family,  

We would like to invite you to our The 11th U.S. Open Jangsong Taekwondo Championship being held at
Elgin Community College (1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123 Tel: 847-931-3925). As with our last tournament, we will have three events – breaking, forms, and sparring. 

The date of this event is Saturday, Mar. 10th, 2012 and we hope you can attend our competition for this year.

  Entry Fee: 1Event- $70  2Events- $80   ONLY! (TWO EVENTS MAXIMUM) 

 **Please have entries in by March 3, 2012, Late registration will be accepted 1 Event- $80 2 Events- $90 per event.**

AGE DIVISION

*Tiny Lion: 3 & 6/ Everybody                                           *Mini Pee-Wee: 7 & 8/ Everybody
*Pee-Wee: 9 & 10/ Male, Female                                      *Young Junior: 11 & 13/ Male, Female
*Junior: 14 & 17/ Male, Female                                        *Men & Women: 18 & 29
*Senior: 30 & Up Male/Female

BELTS DIVISION

 *Tiny Lion= 1.White~Yellow, 2.Y/W/Yellow~Up (3 level each division; Light, Middle, Heavyweight each.)
 *Mini Pee-Wee=  1.White~Green, 2.Blue~T-Black 3.Black belts (3 level each division; Light, Middle, Heavyweight each.)
 *Pee-Wee ~ Junior=
          *MALE/ 1.White~Green, 2.Blue~T-Black 3.Black belts  (3 level each division; Light, Middle, Heavyweight each.)      
           *FEMALE / 1.White~Green, 2.Blue~T-Black 3.Black belts   (3 level each division; Light, Middle, Heavyweight each.)
 *Men= 1.White~Green, 2.Blue~T-Black 3.Black belts   (3 level each division; Light, Middle, Heavyweight each.)

LARGE or SMALL DIVISIONS MAY BE SPLIT OR COMBINED AT TOURNAMENT HAD JUDGE DISCRETION.

1) POOMSAE (Forms)

  *National competition open any forms.
  *Judgment will be made based on Focus, Balance, Memorization, Power and speed, Discipline and yelling
  *In each division, there will be four people who receive Medals; 1 first, 1 second, and 2 third places.
  *Ha’s Taekwondo Tiny Lions students’ Form will be judged separate from students from other schools.
  *Grand Championship: Color belts & Black belts: Only the people who got a 1st place in their division will          be allowed to try. 

2) KYOK-PA (Breaking Board)  
*Rule of Priority:  1.Kick ← 2.Motion ← 3.Boards ← 4.Attempts    
 *Boards point: 1 Board 1, 2 Boards 2, 3 Boards 3.5
 *Attempts point: First 3.5, Second 0 point
 *Kicks point: Basic Kick & Hand 1, Horse Kick (Dyi-Cha-Gi) 2, Wheel Kick (Hya-Chuk) 3.5 point
 *Motion point: No Jump 0, *Jumping body=1, face=2, over head=3, with 360 degree spin=+2 point
             *Jumping in a chair=1, two=2, three=3, four=4, with 360 degree spin=+2 point
              *Maximum 3 boards per a person in Five station.
*Participants must demonstrate 5 techniques with up to 3 boards per station. but for color belts 3 station only.
 *Each participant has only 1 attempts to break at each station.
 *Participants are asked to finish each station before going on to the next station.
 *Use only one technique per station.
 *In each division, there will be four people who receive Medals; 1 first, 1 second, and 2 third places.
 *Grand Championship: Only the people who got a 1st place in their division will be allowed to try for the Grand Championship.
 *Board Breaking Championship will be held like a demonstration. We will allow five different technique and up to three boards for each technique.     You will only get one chances for each technique. Showmanship is a important factor in the this division.

 3) KYORUGI (Free Sparring)

  *Equipment: All participants must provide their own headgear, chest protector, arm pads, shin pads, groin protector and mouthpiece.
  *Tiny Lions Non-contact sparring  /     *Only 14-29 certified black belts may attempt high attacks.
  *Tiny Lions: For students from other school that wish to do full contact we will also have the separate division as well.      
*We will divide the children in 3-6 yrs old age group by size but not by belt. However, if there are not enough competitors in  the age group we will have all of them compete at the same time. 
  *Current WTF, USAT and WJTF Competition Rules are applied. 
  *Round Duration: Ages 3~6 division will 1m 1Round, Ages 7~10 division will 1m 2Round, w/20 sec. Rest. Ages 11~up division will 2Rounds, 1.5Min. w/30 sec. Rest. and Grand championship Fight off matches division will run two rounds lasting 2Rounds, 2Min. w/30 sec.
  *In each division, there will be four people who receive Medals; 1 first, 1 second, and 2 third places.
*Grand Championship(Ages 14~Up Men only): Only the people who got a 1st place in their division will be allowed to try for the Grand Championship.

 POINT SYSTEM

  *Middle punch or middle kick = 1pt   *Middle tornado kick, Jump turn middle back kick= 2pt    *High kicks face = 3pt
  *Body/high attack knockdown and 360 turn tornado high kick, Jump face wheel kick and Jump face back kick- 4 pt
  (when it is considered as a pushing kick and the opponent falls down, it does not count as any point)
  *For ages 8-13 there will be an International division open to light head contact and ages 14~Up Full contact.
For national ages 13 under black belts and all color belts there will be No Head Contact, and Black belts ages 14~Up Controlled  Head Contact. However, Use of these disallowed techniques will result in a penalty (5 point, 1 point or disqualification- dependent  on the severity of the contact).

 SCHOOL TEAM SPARRING DIVISION (NEW!!!)

Each school will bring 10 players to the morning meeting ages 8-14 all belt levels(Male only). This is the schools Masters Choice.
1. We will match each player according to size and belt level as best as possible.
2. Each student will fight a one Minute round.
3. The points will be a total number of points accumulated by the team total. 
4. The Team with the most points wins the school Match.
5. All Sparring rules will apply to this division.

 AWARD PRESENTATIONS / SPECIAL 

1) INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

 ▲POOM (Forms) & KYOKPA (Breaking Board): 1 first, 1 second, and 2 thirds place Medal. 
 ▲KYORUGI (Free Sparring): 1 first, 1 second, and 2 thirds place Trophies.
 ▲Individual Grand Champion Awards
   POOM-SAE; Color belts & Black belts, KYORUGI; (7~up) and KYOK-PA; (7~up) 5pt Trophies. 

2)VICTORY CHOICE SCHOOL TROPHIES

※ 5pt Trophies 2: Forms Champion School 1, Board Breaking Champion School 1.
This award is given to the school with the most first place. In the event of a tie it will go to the school with the most first and second place.

※ USA Taekwondo Martial Arts Commission SCHOOL Team Sparring Grand Champion Awards;  1 first(5″), 1 second(4″), and 1 third(3″) place Trophies.
